Venues in New South Wales are elevating their commitment to responsible gaming. They’ve implemented a revised code of conduct encompassing numerous adjustments. Individuals struggling with gambling addiction will be prohibited from venues, personnel will receive training to identify red flags, and welfare assessments will be conducted on individuals engaging with gaming machines at regular intervals. Each establishment will even designate a dedicated responsible gaming representative.

These modifications arrive shortly before the state election, where gaming has emerged as a prominent issue. Current statistics highlight the substantial sums individuals are losing on gaming machines in New South Wales – it’s a staggering figure! Significant pressure has also mounted to eliminate cash and transition to a cashless system, particularly following a report disclosing that vast sums of illicit funds are being laundered through these machines annually.

However, ClubsNSW, the organization representing venues, contends that abandoning cash is not the solution and won’t effectively address the issue. They assert that venues already provide the most secure environment for gambling, and these recent measures will further enhance their safety.

The top official in New South Wales, Dominic Perrottet, firmly supports digital-only wagering, viewing it as a method to fight addictive gaming within the region. He feels this presents a singular chance to directly address this concern.
