Brentford and Three Lions standout Ivan Toney is facing a probe by the Football Association (FA) over purported wagering infractions.
The forward stands accused of engaging in gambling on football games, with certain accounts indicating the FA inquiry has been underway for the better part of a year. Toney has not been formally charged with any wrongdoing as of yet.
It is understood the alleged transgressions occurred prior to Toney’s move to Brentford, and there are no insinuations that he placed bets on matches involving his present team.
Toney addressed the situation on Twitter, stating: “I am cognizant of a narrative concerning me in a national publication today. I have been cooperating with the FA in their inquiries and will refrain from further remarks until the matter has reached its conclusion.”
Gareth Southgate recently included Toney in his England lineup, but the attacker did not participate in the Nations League clashes against Italy and Germany.
Notwithstanding this, he maintains aspirations of securing a spot on the World Cup roster, with Southgate scheduled to reveal his definitive 26-man selection on November 10th.

Anthony has been prohibited from participating in any form of wagering on soccer worldwide, encompassing both personal and third-party engagement. This suspension arises amid an inquiry by the Football Association in England. Brentford Football Club, Anthony’s team, has recognized the circumstances, indicating their knowledge of the allegations and the current investigation but declining to provide additional remarks presently.
