Leila Mintas, the previous head of PlayUp USA, has teamed up with others to establish a new venture called PlayEngine, where she now serves as the chief executive.

This new enterprise is a “microservices-based” platform catering to businesses in the sports wagering and online gaming industries. The company asserts that it will “furnish clients with customized, individualized solutions that are dependable, expandable, swift, and secure.”

Its sports betting offering will enable clients to receive payments using both digital currencies and traditional currencies, and will incorporate a “travel wallet” that empowers players to utilize the same digital wallet across various regions.

PlayEngine initially came to life through the Berkeley Skydeck startup accelerator.

“I’m incredibly enthusiastic about being a co-founder and the leader of PlayEngine,” remarked Leila Mintas. “The sports betting and online gaming market is too cutthroat to depend on outdated technology.

“There’s a significant demand for nimble and contemporary technology, and I firmly believe we possess the most automated and data-driven product available, which will empower sports betting and online gaming operators to deliver cutting-edge, potent, and lucrative offerings to their end users.”

Aram Cherkezian, another co-founder of PlayEngine, stated that Mintas’s background makes her the ideal individual to guide the company.

Ms. Mintas has a strong history of developing successful businesses and is a respected figure in the sports wagering and online gaming sector. We are thrilled to collaborate with her.

Leila Mintas has a record of achievement in the industry, having served as the head of PlayUp’s US operations and as Vice President of Sportradar, overseeing American operations.

However, after departing PlayUp, she became involved in a legal disagreement with the company. PlayUp accused her of intentionally damaging the company’s sale to cryptocurrency platform FTX after contract negotiations failed. PlayUp pursued legal action and obtained a temporary court order against Mintas.

Mintas refuted the accusations and appealed the temporary court order. In December, a US Federal Judge in Nevada ruled in her favor, overturning the order. This decision was later confirmed by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
