Amazons live streaming service, Twitch, has started enforcing its prohibition on unauthorized gambling sites. They have provided some additional details about their ban standards, but have largely refrained from offering specifics.
Twitch declared last month that they would be prohibiting streams from certain gambling websites, following a period of debate surrounding gambling streams on the platform.
At the time, Twitch stated that the online gambling websites that would be prohibited would be “sites that are not licensed in the United States or other regions that offer sufficient customer protection.”
They identified Stake.com, Rollbit, Duelbits, and Roobet as cryptocurrency casinos that would be prohibited.
The ban took effect yesterday, so Twitch updated its community guidelines with more information on the general criteria for which sites might be prohibited.
Twitch did not provide specifics, simply stating, “We consider numerous factors when determining whether a site is permitted, including whether the site has safeguards in place, such as deposit limits, cooling-off periods, and age verification systems.”
Moreover, we’ll examine whether broadcasters are utilizing or promoting the use of virtual private networks to bypass regional restrictions, and whether the platforms are authorized in the United States or other regions that offer sufficient consumer safeguards.
Furthermore, Twitch has prohibited broadcasts of websites such as Stake.com, Rollbit, Duelbits, and Roobet, and has stated that it may add additional websites to this list in the future.
Live streaming of the free social versions of these platforms is also forbidden. However, Twitch reaffirmed that it still permits live streaming of websites that primarily focus on fantasy sports, sports betting, or poker.
