Chapter 26: Stuart Hunter Offers a Glimpse into ICE 2024

London will be the final time ICE is held there, but despite the event relocating to Barcelona in 2025, Hunter informed Brandon Busman and Brant Aiden that he’s determined to ensure this doesn’t impact this year’s gathering.

He explained that this is a way to maintain the momentum from the 2023 edition. That was a record-breaking event, but ICE 2024 is expected to imitate last year’s gathering in terms of participants, exhibitors, and agreements made.

**ICE’s Educational Program**

Initiating ICE week is the ICE VOX conference, which encompasses the World Regulatory Briefing and the International Casino Conference. This will bring together top operators, key regulators, and companies outside the sector, including Netflix.

Hunter stated the production team has done an outstanding job in assembling an agenda that covers crucial issues for the industry. There will be sessions on AI, responsible gambling, and cybersecurity, but curated in a way that ignites the appropriate kind of discussions.

Hunter is particularly looking forward to hearing from keynote speaker Bill Hornbuckle, Chief Executive of MGM Resorts International.

It was a delight collaborating with the MGM crew. They were truly enthusiastic about attending ICE and sharing their insights. I’m aware Bill was as well.

Connecting Europe and the US
Brandon mentioned ICE facilitates a link between Europe and the United States. It provides emerging North American markets an opportunity to learn from more established areas. But how has this altered the exhibition space?

Hunter stated the event has expanded significantly. It spans over a million square feet at London’s ExCeL, with approximately 650 brands representing every facet of the sector. Individuals from over 150 nations will be present, but this implies the Clarion Gaming team had to meticulously select what’s displayed on the exhibition floor to align with the industry’s requirements.

Hunter remarked that every gathering must determine what attendees desire and match it with what potential exhibitors need. It’s akin to curating a store.

The path to ICE Barcelona
ICE 2024 will be the final event in London. After examining all the possibilities for the future, they decided to relocate to Barcelona next year.

This presents a substantial opportunity. It’s about identifying a location for the next five to ten years, ensuring the event can continue to expand.

Barcelonas fresh location is double the size of London’s ExCeL, granting clients greater adaptability to display their goods in more imaginative ways.

“This will propel ICE to a new phase, just as it did when it shifted from Earls Court to ExCeL,” Hunter stated. “A new phase, a new development, new expansion, plenty of enthusiasm, ample opportunity, this is the next step commencing in 2025.”
